Reflection Code Hits Seven More E-commerce Retailers with Its Barcode Technology Campaign
Reflection Code LLC has filed a second wave of suits in its barcode technology campaign, its first and only litigation campaign to date. In seven separate complaints, the NPE accuses ACCO Brands (2:15-cv-01669), General Mills (2:15-cv-01664), Kellogg Company (2:15-cv-01662), Kohl’s (2:15-cv-01665), Land O’Lakes (2:15-cv-01668), Michaels Stores (2:15-cv-01663), and Nestle Purina Petcare (2:15-cv-01666) of infringing a group patents that generally concern reading and using barcodes (7,963,446; 8,733,657; 8,763,907). The complaints allege that through the use of two-dimensional barcode devices, such as quick response codes (QR codes), the companies directly infringe claims of the ‘657 patent and indirectly infringe claims of the ‘446 and ‘907 patents.
