Deep Green Adds Two to Base Station Campaign, as Case Against NEC Nears Settlement

December 16, 2015

Deep Green Wireless LLC, a subsidiary of General Patent Corporation (GPC), has added two defendants to the litigation campaign that it kicked off with a suit against NEC (2:15-cv-01186) in June of this year. On November 24, 2015, NEC and the NPE filed a joint motion to stay the case between them in light of impending settlement. A couple of weeks later, Deep Green has filed complaints against Mitel Networks (2:15-cv-02058) and Yealink Network Technologies (2:15-cv-02059), asserting the same patent (RE42,714). The ‘714 patent generally relates to products that manage voice communication from multiple devices over land lines and wireless networks. Deep Green’s complaints focus on the defendants’ base stations, including femtocell and access point products that operate using digital enhanced cordless telecommunications (DECT), a cordless phone standard.
