Wi-LAN, Inc. (WiLAN), through its subsidiary North Star Innovations, Inc., has continued to assert Motorola patents that it received from Freescale in October 2015. On March 1, North Star asserted four former Freescale patents (5,892,777; 6,798,074; 6,875,635; 5,875,143) that relate to various aspects of semiconductor fabrication against Integrated Silicon Solution (1:16-cv-00118) in Delaware. In early November, the NPE asserted the ‘777 patent, together with four other patents (6,157,583; 6,127,875; 6,492,686; 6,372,638), also generally related to semiconductor fabrication, against Nanya (1:15-cv-01027). The complaints accuse the defendants’ memory devices of infringement.
