Cypaleo LLC’s campaign asserting a former Xerox patent hit Best Buy (2:16-cv-00545), Getac (2:16-cv-00546), Giga-Byte Technology (2:16-cv-00547), MSI Computer Corp. (2:16-cv-00549), Panasonic (2:16-cv-00550), and Razer USA (2:16-cv-00551) this week. In six separate complaints filed May 23-24, the NPE accused the companies of infringing a single patent (5,638,427) through provision of their tablets, netbooks, and gaming laptops. These new suits come just as the last of Cypaleo’s 16 cases filed in 2015—against Acer, ARCHOS, Nokia (Alcatel-Lucent), Samsung, and Sony—were dismissed earlier this month (all with prejudice, with the exception of ARCHOS, and some following apparent settlements). The defendant count in Cypaleo’s campaign now totals 22.
