Uniloc Expands Assertion of Homegrown Digital Rights Patent into a Campaign

June 3, 2016

This past week Uniloc USA, Inc. and Uniloc Luxembourg S.A. (Uniloc) also turned a single case Electronic Arts into a campaign by filing suit against six new defendants: Alphabet (Google) (2:16-cv-00571), Amazon (2:16-cv-00570), Hulu (2:16-cv-00573), Netflix (2:16-cv-00574), Time Warner (HBO) (2:16-cv-00572), and Valve (2:16-cv-00575). In this campaign, Uniloc asserts a single patent (8,566,960) generally related to limiting access to digital products to a certain number of devices. The accused products are piracy prevention features on defendants’ entertainment platforms and streaming services, including, for example, Google Play Music, HBO Now and HBO Go, and Valve’s Steam.
