Proofpoint has reached a $10.9M settlement with Finjan, Inc., ending the NPE’s infringement suit shortly before the parties were due to begin trial (3:13-cv-05808). On June 7, 2016, District Judge Haywood S. Gilliam dismissed the case with prejudice following a joint stipulation filed by Finjan, Proofpoint, and the latter’s co-defendant and subsidiary Armorize Technologies. Their confidential settlement resolves a three-year lawsuit launched by Finjan in December 2013, one of the NPE’s most recent filings in a litigation campaign that has been active for over a decade. This multimillion-dollar payment is the second made in Finjan’s long-running campaign over the past year, which saw a $39.5M infringement verdict issued against Blue Coat Systems in August 2015.
