Patent monetization firm Blackbird Tech LLC has launched a new litigation campaign, asserting a single patent (7,797,448), generally related to determining the GPS location of multiple computer terminals, against Foursquare (1:16-cv-00585), Lyft (1:16-cv-00586), and Uber (1:16-cv-00587), as well as Arro and parent company Creative Mobile Technologies (1:16-cv-00584), VeriFone Systems (1:16-cv-00588), and Via Transportation (1:16-cv-00589). The defendants are each targeted for offering mobile apps with geolocation features that allow users to locate one another on a map. All of the accused apps except Foursquare are used for ride-sharing services.
