Inventor-Backed Sentius Continues Accusing Spell Check Features, This Time of BlackBerry

Sentius International, LLC has filed another lawsuit in its sole, long-running litigation campaign, this one seeking to collect damages from BlackBerry (2:16-cv-00773) for alleged past infringement of two reissue patents (RE40,731; RE43,633). The patents generally relate to parsing and annotating document text, and the accused product feature is the “‘red squiggly’ spell check feature” of applications included on BlackBerry smartphones and other electronic devices sold or imported into the US between July 14, 2010 and February 12, 2014. The new filing follows cases in the campaign involving multiple orders construing claim language, granting (and denying) summary judgment, and imposing sanctions.
