Over the past month, Realtime Data LLC (RTD) has added three more Texas cases to its large and long-running campaign, filing complaints against Rackspace, NetApp, and SolidFire (6:16-cv-00961); Fujitsu and Quantum (6:16-cv-01035); and Vembu Technologies (6:16-cv-001037). Six data compression patents (7,161,506; 7,378,992; 7,415,530; 8,643,513; 9,054,728; 9,116,908), previously among the total of 23 patents asserted in the campaign, are again asserted in these new complaints, with another of those 23 patents (7,358,867) asserted in the Rackspace/NetApp/SolidFire complaint. Defendants’ compression products and services are at issue in this campaign, in which a claim construction hearing was recently held in Texas.
