Las Vegas-based inventor Gabriel De La Vega, Jr. has launched a new litigation campaign, asserting a recently issued patent against Facebook (1:19-cv-01555) over the real-time streaming video functionality offered by Facebook Live. De La Vega has posted extensively on social media about his patent, his lawsuit against Facebook, and possible future litigation, repeatedly asserting that the patent is worth billions of dollars. The patent generally relates to streaming real-time video content over a cellular network and viewing that content on a mobile device, along with a system that pays a “digital currency” fee, based on the number and duration of stream views, to the “mobile content provider” producing the stream.
