In Second Campaign from Set of Former Pantech Patents, Hypertext Technologies Tags Google and One Plus
In May 2019, Cellular Evolution LLC, an entity associated with California law firm Farjami & Farjami LLP, acquired a portfolio of six former Pantech patents. This past June, Cellular Evolution launched a litigation campaign over five of them, hitting AT&T and T-Mobile in separate Eastern District of Texas complaints. In August, the NPE assigned the sixth patent, generally related to jumping from a text message containing a URL to the corresponding website, to Hypertext Technologies LLC, which has just filed its first lawsuits, accusing Alphabet (Google) (8:19-cv-02356) and BBK Electronics (One Plus) (8:19-cv-02358) of infringing the patent through the provision of devices (i.e., smartphones) receiving text messages with “embedded SMS clickable links”.
