Recently recorded patent assignments suggest that Acacia Research Corporation—which this year underwent a significant strategic transformation—may be preparing to launch multiple litigation campaigns in the new year. The company is entering 2020 with a $35M investment from hedge fund Starboard Value (with the option of increasing that investment up to $400M) and a number of portfolios acquired in 2019.
