New Smartphone Suits Include Google and Verizon

Visual Interactive Phone Concepts [NPE] filed suit against Google and Verizon over two patents related to phones with memory chips for storing transaction data. 5/27, Eastern District of Michigan, 2:2011cv12348 and 2:2011cv12349. 5/27  Visual Interactive Phone Concepts (VIPC) also sued Apple, AT&T and US Cellular last week. VIPC filed two previous suits-one against Virgin Mobile in 2005 and one against Leap Wireless in 2007.   The VIPC patents were subject to ex parte reexaminations filed in 2008.  Reexamination certificates affirming the validity of the two patents were issued in 2010.  The patents have a 1995 priority.
