The Justice Department has ordered changes to Novell’s proposed sale of patents to holding entity CPTN (backed by Microsoft, Oracle, Apple, and EMC.) According to the changes, all the patents will be subject to open source licensing, Microsoft will sell its Novell patents back to Attachmate, and EMC will not acquire 33 patents related to virtualization.
