Capacitant Innovations LLC has filed its first lawsuit, against Asahi Kasei (AKM Semiconductor) (1:20-cv-02674), over a single patent from a portfolio of 18 US assets acquired from Himax Technologies, a Taiwanese fabless semiconductor company specializing in display imaging processing. AKM Semiconductor is accused of infringing the patent—generally related to receiving a video signal and separating the synchronous signal from the data signal—in a complaint that charts the AK8859VN video decoder against claims of the patent but also pleads that “numerous other devices” infringe. Capacitant Innovations is not the first plaintiff to file suit over a patent picked up from Himax.
