Symmetrix Video Sues Cisco over Videoconferencing

Symmetrix Video Systems LLC has sued Cisco (Cisco Webex) (1:20-cv-00914) over the provision of the WebEx Meetings videoconferencing platform, with the use of the OpenH264 and Opus video codecs at issue. The sole asserted patent, broadly directed to repeatedly encoding video data at different quality levels based on “the utilization level”, names a single inventor several of whose patents have been acquired by NPEs and subsequently asserted in litigation.
