New NPE Targets Server and Storage Vendors in a Second Campaign Involving ETRI Patents

December 6, 2012

Safe Storage filed six separate suits against Dell, Dot Hill Systems, Hitachi, HP, NetApp and Silicon Graphics alleging that the defendants’ RAID storage products infringe a patent related to the redundant interconnections. These are the first patent infringement suits filed by Safe Storage.  The patent-in-suit was issued to the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) in Korea and is exclusively licensed to Safe Storage. On the same day these complaints were filed, a presumably related entity, Infinite Data, filed suits against e-c0mmerce defendants over the use of data network products and alleging infringement of a patent that is also exclusively licensed from ETRI.  11/30, District of Delaware, 1:2012cv01624, 1:2012cv01625, 1:2012cv01626, 1:2012cv01627, 1:2012cv01628, 1:2012cv01629.
