After Acquiring Multiple Portfolios from Various Sources over the Last Year, Delaware NPE Brings First Suit

November 8, 2020

K.Mizra LLC—“a patent licensing company run by experienced management” that characterizes itself as “focus[ing] on high value, high quality patents with a global reach”—has been collecting IP assets from various sources since December 2019. Now, it has filed its first litigation, suing Cisco (6:20-cv-01031) in the Western District of Texas over two patents that K.Mizra acquired from entities associated with patent monetization figure Brian Yates. The plaintiff targets Cisco with one patent, generally related to network security, over the provision of Cisco’s Identity Services Engine; and with the other patent, generally related to filtering digital content, over the provision of Cisco’s Email Security and Syslog features and functionalities.
