Autoscribe Sues Merchants’ Credit Guide Company

Autoscribe and Pollin Patent Licensing (PPL) [NPE] filed suit against Merchants’ Credit Guide Company, alleging that the defendant’s check-by-phone system infringes a patent related to check processing.  According to the complaint, Robert Pollin, the named inventor on the patent-in-suit, assigned the patent to Autoscribe and PPL is an exclusive licensee.  Autoscribe and PPL have filed nine prior suits since January 2010 against Allstate, AT&T, BB&T, Capital One, Citibank, Combine Insurance Services, FIA Card Services, HSBC, Illinois Bell Telephone, SBC Internet, Sun Trust Banks, United States Cellular, and Wells Fargo.  Autoscribe and PPL have had three actions for declaratory judgment brought against them by 21st Mortgage Corporation, BMO Harris National Association, and Online Resources.  10/11, Northern District of Illinois, assigned to Judge Rebecca R.
