Named inventor Raj Abhyanker has sued Airbnb (4:20-cv-08248) over the inclusion of certain reservation features (e.g., approval, booking, and verification tools) within the Airbnb platform. A single patent, generally directed to a “short-term listing server” for validating the listing data of a “place to stay”, is asserted in the new Northern District of California complaint. The asserted patent belongs to a large family with a complicated assignment and litigation history, including a short-lived 2014 suit against Nextdoor.com.
