CoStar Realty Information filed an action for declaratory judgment against Civix-DDI [NPE], seeking declarations of non-infringement and invalidity for two patents related to a database that generates a map to locate selected items of interest.  The USPTO issued Ex Parte Reexamination Certificates, confirming the patentability of claims 20 and 26 of the ’622 patent and claims 11-13, 16-19, 22 and 23 of the ’291 patent.  Civix has filed seven previous suits against over 15 defendants, including Motorola, Verizon, and Yahoo.  In May 2011, Civix reportedly negotiated a $7.5 million licensing agreement with the National Association of Realtors. According to a prior complaint, Civix has granted hundreds of licenses resulting in more than $40 million in royalties.  Civix has also reportedly achieved settlements with Microsoft, Yahoo, and Expedia.  6/21, Northern District of Illinois, no judge yet assigned, 1:2012cv04968.
