Mobile Phone Market to Experience Slowest Growth Since 2009

June 6, 2012 – Bloomberg reports that worldwide mobile phone shipments will grow approximately 4% this year, the slowest growth rate since 2009 according to market research firm IDC.  Feature phones will drop 10%, but will control 62% of the total market.  Google‘s Android will reportedly be the top smartphone software this year with 61% market share and will be followed by Apple‘s iOS with 20.5%, RIM‘s BlackBerry with 6%, and Microsoft‘s Windows Phone with 5.2%.
