Cisco and Microsoft Tagged in New Eastern District of Texas Campaign

March 20, 2021

Delaware NPE Netcom Global Solutions LLC has launched its first litigation campaign, suing Cisco (9:21-cv-00050) and Microsoft (9:21-cv-00051) over a single patent broadly directed to routing communications through a specific “identity/zone firewall” based on the contact’s identity. Cisco is accused of infringement through the provision of features within certain network security products for “running [an] identity check based on users rather than IP addresses”, while the NPE targets Microsoft for the creation of “contact groups and distribution lists on which policies such as receiving messages or emails based on certain rules can be established” within its Outlook email platform.
