May 21, 2012 – Market research firm, IDC reports that the worldwide Ethernet switch market reached $5.1 billion in Q1 2012, a 7.4% year-over-year increase, and the worldwide router market increased 2.8% year-over-year.  Cisco led the Ethernet switch market with 65.1% market share and was followed by HP with 8.3%, Alcatel-Lucent with 2.6%, Juniper with 2.4%, Huawei with 2.1%, and various other companies accounted for the remainder.
