In 2015, cloud services company TriPlay, Inc. announced that it had secured $11M in financing from Fortress Investment Group LLC. Now, roughly six years later, and following the company’s unsuccessful litigation against WhatsApp, USPTO records indicate that TriPlay has assigned dozens of its patents to Fortress. The firm made headlines this week, with IAM estimating that Fortress’s latest IP fund may top $900M.
