May 2, 2012 – Microchip Technology announced the acquisition of Standard Microsystems (SMSC) for $939 million. According to the company’s website, SMSC develops mixed-signal connectivity solutions for automobiles, consumer devices, and PCs, and is a supplier to Audi, HP, and Toshiba.
