April 25, 2012 – IBM announced the acquisition of enterprise search provider, Vivisimo.  According to the company’s website, Vivisimo’s software scans structured and unstructured data, automates discovery, and enables organizations to index and search data across multiple repositories. Market research firm IDC estimates that the global market for related “big data” technology will reach $16.9 billion by 2015.
