Q2 in Review: NPE Filings Hold Steady Despite Q2 Dip as OpCo Litigation Decreases

RPX has released its quarterly review of patent litigation trends, revealing that NPE assertions remained stable in the first half of 2021 compared to that same timeframe last year, excluding the impact of one notorious file-and-settle plaintiff. Operating company litigation, meanwhile, was down in both the first half of the year and the second quarter, though Q2 also saw a spike in a separate category of anti-counterfeiting cases.
