New NPE Sues UAV Communications over Digital Scanning

Project Paperless [NPE] filed suit against UAV Communications, alleging that UAV’s digital copying devices as well as scan-to-file and scan-to-email systems infringe two patents related to scanning paper into digital form and automatically emailing the resultant digital copy.  This is the first patent infringement suit initiated by Project Paperless.  The ’410 patent originated with Donner, Inc. and was assigned to Renaissance Group IP Holdings in September 2005, and the ’426 patent originated with Imagination Software and was assigned to Renaissance Group IP Holdings in September 2009.  1/18, Eastern District of Virginia, 3:2012cv00039.
