Apple (6:21-cv-00916) is the latest defendant to be sued in the contactless payment campaign of RFCyber Corp., from which a case against LG Electronics was just dismissed with prejudice, this past week. The plaintiff targets the provision of Apple Pay with five patents, one of them new to the campaign and the other four in litigation against the other two active defendants, Alphabet (Google) and Samsung. Those Eastern District of Texas cases have been consolidated before Judge Rodney Gilstrap, who has before him a slew of motions, including to transfer, to dismiss, and to stay, the last one in light of the other motions as well as activity before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
