Finisar Corporation filed an action for declaratory judgment against Cheetah Omni [NPE], seeking declaration that Finisar’s programmable optical processors do not infringe four patents related to optical networking.  Cheetah Omni has filed ten prior suits against over 15 defendants including Fujitsu and Tellabs, both Finisar customers, as well as Samsung and Verizon.  Cheetah Omni won a $5.4 million judgment against Verizon in March 2011.  Mohammed Islam is the founder and CTO of Cheetah Omni as well as the named inventor on the patents-in-suit, which were assigned to Cheetah Omni in September 2002.  12/23, Eastern District of Michigan, 2:2011cv15625.
