Profectus Technology Files Suits against Acer, HP, Motorola, and Motorola Mobility

Profectus Technology [NPE] filed four separate suits against Acer, HP, Motorola, and Motorola Mobility, alleging that the defendants’ tablet devices infringe a patent related to digital picture frames. Each of the independent claims of the in-suit-patent contains a limitation related to activation of the screen in response to either a change in light intensitiy or a sound in the proximity of the device.  Profectus Technology filed one prior suit in September 2011 against Apple, Dell, Eastman Kodak, Futurewei, Huawei, Panasonic, RIM, and Samsung.  The patent-in-suit was originally issued to individual inventors Frank and James Bitetto, who assigned it to the Profectus Technology in September 2011.  Another NPE, Picture Frame Innovations, has also asserted a patent related to digital picture frames against consumer electronics compnaies. 12/16, Eastern District of Texas, 6:2011cv00674; 6:2011cv00675; 6:2011cv00676; 6:2011cv00677.
