Delaware NPE Bright Capture LLC has filed its first litigation, suing Intuit (2:22-cv-00018) and SAP (2:22-cv-00019) in the Eastern District of Texas, as well as Seiko Epson (6:22-cv-00049) and Zoho (6:22-cv-00048) in the Western District of Texas. The four patents-in-suit, asserted in overlapping sets, are broadly directed to scanning and processing documents containing “numerical information”. The defendants are accused of infringement through the provision of apps (Intuit, SAP, and Zoho) or systems (Seiko) that support features for scanning receipts and organizing the data from them. The plaintiff appears to be connected to a set of NPEs that has been steadily growing over the past several years.
