Rampart Asset Management LLC, a Texas plaintiff, has expanded the memory controller campaign that it began late last year against first NXP Semiconductors and then Renesas Electronics with a 2022 case, this one filed against TI (2:22-cv-00024) in the Eastern District of Texas. The six asserted patents are broadly directed to either computer memory or integrated circuit calibration, with the plaintiff describing them as covering technologies “for coordinating memory operations and providing data patterns for calibration of memory systems”. The patents are among more than three dozen that Rambus Inc.—which currently available USPTO records indicate holds close to 3,500 US patent assets—assigned to an entity that suggests more litigation from this particular source could well be coming.
