New Acacia Campaign Targets ISP Providers for DNS Security

DN Lookup Technologies [NPE] filed five separate suits against Charter, Comcast, Cox, OpenDNS, and Time Warner, alleging that the defendants’ domain name redirect services infringe a patent related to a domain name recommendation engine that handles invalid domain name lookup requests.  These are the first patent infringement suits initiated by DN Lookup.  The patent-in-suit was assigned to Acacia Research by Iscatel  in July 2011.  Iscatel appears to have been a DNS redirection provider. 11/29, District of Delaware, 1:2011cv01177; 1:2011cv01178; 1:2011cv01179; 1:2011cv01180; 1:2011cv01181.
