November 25, 2011

Personal Audio [NPE] filed suit against Amazon.com, alleging that Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet infringes two patents related to audio program players.  Personal Audio has filed four prior suits since June 2009 against defendants including Apple, Coby Electronics, HTC, LG, Motorola Mobility, RIM and Samsung. The complaint states that a Texas jury ordered Apple to pay Personal Audio $8 million in damages over claims related to Apple’s iPod devices in July 2011.  James Logan, one of the inventors of the in-suit-patents is the founder of Personal Audio, and the complaint claims that Logan is listed as an inventor or co-inventor on no fewer than 32 US patents.  11/22, Eastern District of Texas, 1:2011cv00655.
