Assa Abloy (August Home, HID Global) has filed a declaratory judgment action in the District of Connecticut against CPC Patent Technologies Pty Ltd and its parent company Charter Pacific Corporation Limited, seeking a judgment of noninfringement for three biometric authentication patents that have been asserted in their sole litigation campaign since February 2021. Assa Abloy alleges, based on the assertion letters sent to it in 2021 and Charter Pacific’s litigation against Apple, that Charter Pacific will soon file suit against it over various smart lock products.
