Inventor-controlled NPE Eight kHz LLC has filed its first litigation, suing Meta Platforms (f/k/a Facebook) (6:22-cv-00575) in the Western District of Texas over the provision of Oculus-series augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) headsets that support binaural audio. The plaintiff, one of at least a dozen NPEs to have apparently secured backing from the same funder, asserts nine patents broadly directed to various aspects of sound localization technologies.
