IP Navigation’s SFA Sues RightNow Four Days after Oracle Acquisition Is Announced

October 31, 2011

SFA Systems [NPE] filed suit against RightNow Technologies, alleging that the company’s online sales tools infringe two patents related to automated sales, marketing, and supply chain management.  On October 24th, Oracle announced that it had entered into an agreement to acquire RightNow. SFA has filed eight prior suits since July 2009 against over 65 defendants including Amazon, Blockbuster, Symantec, and Zappos.  The patents-in-suit were assigned from Phoenix IP to Triton IP (both entities tied to Erich Spangenberg’s IP Navigation in 2006). Triton IP changed its name to SFA Systems in 2008.  10/28, Eastern District of Texas, 6:2011cv00560.
