Round Rock Sues Lenovo

October 25, 2011

Round Rock Research [NPE] filed suit against Lenovo, alleging that the company’s monitors, memory, and computing system products infringe eight patents related to aspects of LCD displays, inventory tracking, data storage, and memory.  Round Rock acquired the patents-in-suit from Micron Technology in 2010, and has filed five prior suits since October 2010 against Acer, ASUSTek, Dell, Gateway, HTC, and Oracle.  Round Rock has licensed its portfolio to Apple, Nokia, Samsung and Sony, and an unknown buyer purchased a Round Rock covenant not to sue for over $35M at the ICAP Ocean Tomo Spring 2011 Auction.  Round Rock was formed by John Desmarais, the former head of patent litigation at Kirkland & Ellis.  10/21, District of Delaware, 1:2011cv01011.
