Network Signatures Files More Suits against Companies with Web Sites

Network Signatures [NPE] filed separate suits against Allstate, MillerCoors, Nestle, and New York Life Insurance over a patent related to a method for network authentication. Network Signatures has filed over 60 suits since July 2006 against companies that have websites using SSL encryption, and has reached settlements with a number of companies including: Bank of America, Lowe’s Home Improvement Centers, Morgan Stanley & Co., The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation, and Ace Hardware. According to the complaint, the patent-in-suit was issued to the US Navy in 1996 who entered into an exclusive license agreement with Metrix Services in 2004.
