Network Signatures Files More Suits against Companies with Web Sites

Network Signatures [NPE] filed separate suits against Allstate, MillerCoors, Nestle, and New York Life Insurance over a patent related to a method for network authentication. Network Signatures has filed over 60 suits since July 2006 against companies that have websites using SSL encryption, and has reached settlements with a number of companies including: Bank of America, Lowe’s Home Improvement Centers, Morgan Stanley & Co., The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation, and Ace Hardware. According to the complaint, the patent-in-suit was issued to the US Navy in 1996 who entered into an exclusive license agreement with Metrix Services in 2004.  Metrix Services transferred its entire right, title, and interest to Network Signatures in 2006.  10/19, Central District of California, 8:2011cv01612; 8:2011cv01613; 8:2011cv01614; 8:2011cv01616.
