Portal Technologies [NPE] filed three separate suits against AOL, IAC, and Yahoo over a patent related to customized home pages.  These are the first suits filed by Portal Technologies.  The complaint identifies Portal Technologies as the exclusive licensee of the patent-in-suit.  The patent (and two related issued US patent family members) was previously assigned to Multimedia Adventures and Datamize, both entities associated with individual inventor, Kevin Burns.  The patent-in-suit was the subject of a declaratory judgment action filed by Plumtree Software in 2004.  9/30, Eastern District of Texas, 2:2011cv00438; 2:2011cv00439; 2:2011cv00440.
