Growing Slew of Banks in Suit in West Texas

September 13, 2022

Last October, inventor-controlled Textile Computer Systems, Inc. (TCSI) returned to litigation, suing Broadway National Bank, Charles Schwab, Comerica Bank, Cullen/Frost Bankers (Frost Bank), Independent Bank, International Bank of Commerce, Southside Bank, Texas Capital Bank, Vantage Bank Texas, and WoodForest Financial, all in the Western District of Texas. Now, TCSI has fired off another round of complaints in the same district, hitting Amarillo National Bank, Jefferson Bank, Regions Financial, Truist Financial (Truist Bank), Trustee Cadence Bank, US Bancorp (WestStar Bank), and Zions Bancorporation. While five patents were asserted last year, only four appear in these new complaints; review of a claim construction order handed down by District Judge Alan D. Albright on September 6, 2022 might explain the drop.
