Plaintiff with Familiar Ties Targets Ultrasonic “Chirp Sensors”

MEMS Innovations LLC has launched its first litigation, pleading that it is the exclusive licensee of at least two patents generally related to piezoelectric microspeakers. The plaintiff asserts those two patents—owned by Korean research and development company Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI)—in a new complaint filed in the Eastern District of Texas against TDK (2:22-cv-00434), targeting the provision of ultrasonic “Chirp Sensors” over their incorporation of piezoelectric microspeakers that use microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) with certain designs. MEMS Innovations is managed by a figure familiar in patent monetization.
