Inventor-controlled Fitistics, LLC has filed suit against Huawei (2:23-cv-00008) over the provision of smartphones, smart watches, tablets, and related products that support certain health tracking services and tools (e.g., Blood Pressure Measurement, Heart Rate Monitoring, the Huawei Health App, and Workout Tracking). Four patents broadly directed to communications between a handheld “biometrically secured” device and a “biological monitoring” device are asserted in the new Eastern District of Texas complaint. The portfolio to which the asserted patents belong has a complicated history involving a long-running set of federal actions playing out before the Eastern District of Virginia.
