As IP Edge’s Filing Pause Passes Three Months, Lamplight Seeks to Back Out of Delaware
Lamplight Licensing LLC is one of multiple plaintiffs operating under the umbrella of formerly prolific Texas monetization firm IP Edge LLC to become ensnared in the “Series of Extraordinary Events” unfolding before Delaware Chief Judge Colm F. Connolly. Lamplight’s disclosures in response to April 2022 standing orders in force in that courtroom led to a November 4, 2022 hearing, one of two that only intensified Judge Connolly’s concerns about Lamplight’s compliance. An order requiring the plaintiff to produce to the court a sweeping set of materials related to its formation, control, and funding followed, from which order Lamplight now seeks relief, moving the court to set aside the order as outside the scope of the court’s jurisdiction, since dismissals have ended the cases, and as overly broad and calling for the production to the court of privileged materials for an “improper purpose”. Many of the arguments that Lamplight advances in its motion were insufficient to prompt the Federal Circuit to step in, on mandamus review, in sister IP Edge-tied cases.
