Taiwan-Based ThroughTEK Sues Anker and Retailers over Network Camera Products

April 14, 2023

In a new Western District of Washington complaint, Taiwan-based ThroughTEK Co., Ltd. has accused Anker (Fantasia Trading, Power Mobile Life) and retailers Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Micro Electronics (Micro Center), and Target (2:23-cv-00515) of infringing two patents: the first, generally related to remotely waking a device; and the second, generally related to “identify[ing] a networked device for establishing a point-to point (P2P) connection”. Anker and its subsidiaries are targeted over the provision of certain eufy-branded networked monitoring security products (e.g., cameras and doorbells) and related mobile apps, while the retailer defendants are targeted over sale of those accused eufy devices. At issue are features related to waking a device remotely and scanning QR code for device setup.
