Litigation Finance Firm’s “Slimmed-Down Business” to Focus on Patent Cases

Last week, Bloomberg broke the news that the litigation finance firm Validity Finance plans to lay off half of its staff after its financial backer, the private equity firm TowerBrook Capital, decided not to continue financing the business. According to an interview with Validity’s CEO, Ralph J. Sutton, moving forward, the pared-down firm will invest only in patent cases.
