Multimodal LLC—a plaintiff connected with a figure familiar in patent monetization circles—has filed its first litigation, suing Lockly (1:23-cv-00601) and Wyze Labs (1:23-cv-00599) in the District of Delaware followed by Anker (6:23-cv-00430) in the Western District of Texas. The sole asserted patent, originating with HP, generally relates to actuating a lock if a scanned object matches a “reference texture”. The defendants are targeted over the provision of smart locks that incorporate fingerprint sensors.
