In late April, RPX noted the January 2023 transfer of a single wireless networking patent from Empire IP LLC to Cellular Link Innovations LLC, suggesting that litigation over the asset appeared imminent. Now, Cellular Link Innovations has indeed filed suit, accusing Verizon (Verizon Wireless as well as other subsidiaries) (2:23-cv-00276) of infringing that patent. Targeted in the new Eastern District of Texas complaint are Verizon’s 5G network services and related hardware and software products. At issue is a certain “wireless network architecture”, as well as “certain methods for base station utilization”.
